Anyone? Anyone want to bet against me?

I'm willing to hear a more probable name. You probably know one.

Although, I'm actually more worried who McCain'll pick - as he is white, male, and "experienced," I'm sure he'll get it in November. Neither Huckabee nor Leiberman look very attractive.

Looks like Clinton's tossed her hat in, and it would be a strong unifying move, particularly as people have approved of her health care plan where they haven't approved of his. I know that Edwards has flat-out said he will not run for veep - it was a part of his speech wherein he endorsed Obama in the first place. I almost sort of hope Richardson raises his hand. I got to hear him speak while I was vising Iowa in primary season, and he was particularly impressive, not to mention he has the much-vaunted experience that Obama lacks. An Obama-Edwards ticket, even beyond Edwards having denied it, would have the weakness of it being two young charismatic men with not too many years under their belts. Edwards more so than Obama, certainly, and he made a much stronger showing than Kerry in 2004 in my opinion, but they'll be slathered with the amateur label. Obama needs someone who already knows Washington inside and out in order to win against McCain.

I'm sure Edwards would love being called young; I think he's in his 50s. *G*

Richardson, I might take. He seems interesting and fairly intelligent. But I don't want Clinton. I know politicians lie, but I'd prefer the ones I vote for not do it quite so blatantly - and repeatedly.

Hey, when my parents turned fifty and started running triathalons, they redefined young for me :) Besides, he's young by Washington standards, poor dear, even though he's plenty of experience under his belt. People just aren't accustomed to think of him that way since barely anyone had heard of him before he threw in his lot with Kerry.

I will still vote for Obama if Clinton is his VP. I don't think it's the best choice he could make, should he make it, but I believe that it would be tolerable, as they would be in the right positions respectively to temper one another in the right ways. If that makes any sense. Basically, I wouldn't go vote for Murder McTortureson (mature, I know) if Clinton were VP. I would be way, way happier if it were Richardson.

I may spontaneously orgasm if it's Edwards, but, y'know, that's just me.

I'm not voting for McCain in any case. But I'd prefer to like the people getting my vote ...

P.S.

Oh, and Lieberman?

*hisses*

Sayeth not the name, for it is vile in my sight! I was one of those stolid individuals who stood out in the rain during the Connecticut senatorial elections with big ol' signs saying "JOE LIEBERMAN VOTED FOR TORTURE." I particularly enjoyed edging up close to the "VOTE JOE" group and ignoring their dirty looks. Gotta love free speech. Well, what we have left of it.

Joe shot himself in the foot with his America-ravaging Zionism* long before the torture thing ever came up - it was just another black mark against him.

(I would refer you to my "introduction" post at the top of my journal wherein I explain the importance of knowing the vast differences between Zionism and and Judaism, so that one is not accused of holding an ill opinion against the second, just for disliking the political/geographical philosophy of the first.)

(No offense taken whatsoever - I understand the difference.)

As far as I'm concerned, the Military Commissions Act was the fucking Rubicon - anyone who voted for it is dead to me, politically. I would sooner move to France than vote for Lieberman or any of his ilk - I find the lot of them objectionable in a multitude of other ways, but that ... that was and will always remain unforgivable.

Oh, good. Believe me, not everyone realizes the difference. Most people don't seem to.

And, no previous democracy has lasted more than a couple of centuries, either ... *shrug* People forget why they have the chief principles in place that were PUT in place at one time.

Edwards has his eyes on Attorney General, which would be a really good fit for him as he made his millions as a lawyer.

I dunno about Hillary as VP. She's a VERY polarizing character - people either love her or hate her.

I would think Hillary went a few steps over the line during her campaigning to be seriously considered for VP - I know politicians lie, but she did it too blatantly, too many times. Besides, quite honestly? If her party wanted her in the White House that badly, she'd have the nomination.

And yeah, I could accept Edwards as AG. He's good at it.

Hillary lost my vote over the "dodging bullets when I landed in Bosnia" fiasco. Either you dodged bullets or you didn't. And since (to my knowlege) she's NEVER dodged bullets, it wasn't a matter of mistaking one trip for another. It was intentionally trying to build up her war credentials.

She, like her husband, is always trying to give the "right" answer, rather than the truthful one. It's a Clinton thing.

I've heard both Joe Manchin and Ted Strickland as VP candidates. They can take Manchin, the guy is nice and all, but I want to keep Ted!!! I love that man and he's trying to work with Ohio.

The Governor of Ohio. It's his first term and he's having some trouble getting things started. He was the U.S. Rep. for southeastern Ohio (where I live/work) and he did great things for us.
He is/was also one of Hillary's biggest supporters. So, I don't know if Obama will go for him or not.

On a side note, I've known the man most of my life as my grandfather was influential in the local Democratic Party and talked him into running for higher offices through the years. He always remembers who I am and what I do. When I reviewed the last Dixie Chicks CD he sent me a personal e-mail to let me know he read it.

I love Edwards-he was my candidate. :( I don't see him as VP...nor do I see Clinton. Obama will need someone "different" from him-these two are too close in the demographic they draw.

I like Richardson as VP, and think Edwards will have a place in the Cabinet. IF Obama can get elected. Believe me, I'm not all that reassured at this point.

This will be the only politically-related thing you hear me say. When I lived in Ireland, I learned not to talk about two things: religion and politics, and I have followed that advice closely since then. *shrugs* Just the way I am.

But...I wish dearly that Clinton had won the nomination. She was my candidate from the beginning. I would be psyched beyond measure if Obama took her as VP.

I'm pretty sure Edwards isn't in the running. I don't have much feeling for him either way. I'd love to see Richardson, because he's got so much foreign policy experience and he'd help placate the pro-gun people and pull in the Hispanic vote. I'm not sure if *two* brown men would be too much for this ticket, though.

I don't like Hillary as a choice because then you've just got two junior senators. She doesn't add anything to ticket in the way of experience, military service, etc.

I've heard Jim Webb being kicked around and he'd take the wind right out of McCain's military experience sails, but he's apparently got some old writings floating around out there that might lose him the female vote. Kathleen Sebelius has also been mentioned, but if they're just thinking that as a woman she'll bring in the Hillary voters, they're probably wrong. My husband decided we're moving if Evan Bayh ends up on the ticket - I'm not sure why other than he thinks he's a jackass.

Forgot to mention: I'd like to see Wesley Clark but he was such a strident Clinton supporter, I don't know if that would work out.

If Edwards hadn't already said he doesn't want a second shot at VP, he'd be my pick. I like his policies and he's a genial Southerner - voters will respond to him. (Also it would be the Ticket of Handsome...) I do hope he's involved in the cabinet somehow. Richardson would be a good candidate as well.

I dunno about Clinton. I'm sour on her right now just because I think it's tacky that she didn't formally concede. The longer this goes on, the more difficult it'll be to stitch the party back together in time for the convention, much less the election. It's not going to be an easy fight. Mostly I'm just really excited to finally have a candidate, and one whom I believe will be able to mobilise people across the board (I do not want to be ashamed by the youth vote like in 2004).

God, I hope McCain doesn't go for Huckabee. If a warhawk and a creationist get into the highest positions in the country (uh...again), fuck it, I'm moving back to the UK.

I think he'll likely go with Bill Richardson, and McCain will probably choose Romney.

As for Clinton, there's been talk about Obama being uneasy with Bill being so close to the Presidency again, which I don't blame him for. I'm not getting a vibes for Edwards, either, though I do like the guy. I've also heard talk about Sebelius, the Governor of Kansas.

I'm hoping he is. *crosses fingers and toes* Though Edwards *did* say few weeks ago that he "wasn't interested", but a white southern man is ideal for Obama. Sad that it makes a difference, and it shouldn't, but I'm calling 'em as I see 'em.
