... then you might want to read [livejournal.com profile] ainsoph15's newest post-AWE story, More Seductive Than Purity. Lots of attention to detail, good vocabulary (I don't mind looking up new words for some pr0n, LOL), and a well-blended emotional/sexual connection between the two characters.

In my fic, I'm tentatively working on a Will first-person POV one-shot, from an idea someone brought up on [livejournal.com profile] turningpirate (hey, it's my comm, gotta pimp it often). I've also been thinking of a third story to sort of bring a circle to Moving On and its unintentional sequel A Sorta Fairytale - something from Jack's POV. Each story literally wrote itself in a couple of hours from the same weird part of my brain, several months apart, and it wasn't until someone commented on "Fairytale" that I realized they were similarly-themed - the fall of the storyteller's stock character to post-fairytale considerations (the hero completes his quest, the damsel snares the rogue - what next?). I figure Jack has something to say for his role; he just hasn't said it in a way that I can write down the way I did the other two. For one, I haven't established just exactly what his role IS, LOL.

*blink*

When I made my last post, I really was just doing it for the few RL people I know who were aware I was in line for this new job ... I didn't know I'd get a slew of well-wishers, LOL. So rather than answer every comment, I'll just make another post.

For obvious reasons, I'm not giving many details. It's on the editorial staff of a rather large specialty publication in the Midwestern U.S. (over 100,000 readers). Basically, I will be in charge of a bunch of writers as well as writing myself. The pay is not enough to retire upon, but let's just say it's far better than I've gotten before, there's a good chance of pay increases on a regular schedule, and foreign things like "paid vacation" and "medical insurance" are involved. I haven't been to a doctor in almost 8 years, so this is a Good Thing.

([livejournal.com profile] yoiebear, there's a good chance I'll be much closer to you, driving-distance. I think you might know of the place of which I speak.)

When I began my paid writing career many eons ago, I had a really good boss and challenging work, but really crappy hours and pay. When I moved here for my next job, a supposed step up, the pay wasn't much better, and the bosses turned out to be really shitty. For the past several years I've cobbled together a living from various concurrent part-time jobs and writing gigs, and have been halfway happy - hey, it was better than that shitty-boss job I just told you about. But I always had my eye open for something that meant I could concentrate on one office, one job, etc., with decent pay. Hopefully I have found that - at least for the next few years.

Neldorwan posted something over at Elflady's forum, from zizzle.com (that she credits). Various pieces of information regarding Jack's backstory, involvement with EIC and Davy Jones, and even the prison dog.

WARNING: If these are actually from Disney, they are extremely informative and ... well, spoilery, spoilers. You've been warned if you click here.

(Note: I think I can post this link here with no problems. If it becomes a problem with Elflady, I'll have to take it down, but I hope it doesn't.)
