Just saw the newest commercial for "Snakes on a Plane." This is going to rake in some serious cash - anyone want to place bets about its domestic take for the year?
(Yeah, I'll go see it. I'm a lemming, but with all those fangs, I suspect I'll only be a lemming ONCE.)

Date: 2006-08-11 03:04 pm (UTC)Movies are all about hype these days. I have completely lost my faith in the industry due it's mistreatment of a movie as unique as A Scanner Darkly. I can only think of "mistreatment" as the word to use for it not getting beyond 300 theatres nationwide. My reasoning for it to only be shown in "art house" theatres is that it's too good for the rest of the movie going audience who would rather see shite like Snakes on a Plane because internet bloggers have become ad moguls.
And "Oh, the irony," with the recent terror revelations. "Snakes on a plane" indeed. I can just see the promoters of this movie high-fiving one another yesterday because they made the perfect choice of when to premiere their airplane movie. Didn't Nostradamus predict this? "Snakes will rain from heaven" or some such.

Date: 2006-08-11 08:42 pm (UTC)"Snakes" is purely a cult thing - I predict it'll be the next RHPS, easily, and not because it's good, LOL.
