Just saw the newest commercial for "Snakes on a Plane." This is going to rake in some serious cash - anyone want to place bets about its domestic take for the year?

(Yeah, I'll go see it. I'm a lemming, but with all those fangs, I suspect I'll only be a lemming ONCE.)

LMAO! Thank you! I've just heard about this whole gel and liquids thing because of being an RA for Japanese exchange students and some of our kids are leaving this weekend. It's one of the weirder things I've heard. -_-;; Yeesh...

Movie wise, it's probably going to suck. I bet it gets terrible reviews, but everyone's going to see it because it became so internet out of nowhere! :P

It's not going to break POTC:DMC's record, but it'll probably do respectable numbers for a B-movie. That's all it is really. The sad thing is the "MFin' snakes on the MFin' plane" is probably about as fun as it gets. I mean, how do you top that? Jackson then takes one and bites its head off??

Movies are all about hype these days. I have completely lost my faith in the industry due it's mistreatment of a movie as unique as A Scanner Darkly. I can only think of "mistreatment" as the word to use for it not getting beyond 300 theatres nationwide. My reasoning for it to only be shown in "art house" theatres is that it's too good for the rest of the movie going audience who would rather see shite like Snakes on a Plane because internet bloggers have become ad moguls.

And "Oh, the irony," with the recent terror revelations. "Snakes on a plane" indeed. I can just see the promoters of this movie high-fiving one another yesterday because they made the perfect choice of when to premiere their airplane movie. Didn't Nostradamus predict this? "Snakes will rain from heaven" or some such.

Nostradamus predicted "Snakes On A Plane"? Damn, he's good.

Well, there is that scene in the previews where Jackson shoots out the side of the plane and shit goes flying out into space, so I suspect some of that were slithery critters - which will then "rain from heaven" as it were. It certainly hasn't meant the crash-landing of Air Force One so far.

*wondering why the movie's writers would bother to name Jackson's character anything other than "Samuel L. Jackson" for the film*

Eh, mindless fluff doesn't bother me, so long as I can have access to the non-mindless movies I like to watch, as well. (I have a feeling I'll be in a worse boat than you in September, when "Haven" comes out - it's a limited market, so I don't know if it'll come here or not. I doubt I'll drive to Nashville for it, though if it IS playing in St. Louis, perhaps it will still be there in October.)

"Snakes" is purely a cult thing - I predict it'll be the next RHPS, easily, and not because it's good, LOL.

I've spent too much money going to see DMC multiple times to be a lemming for a film like "Snakes."

But I look forward to reading about how it compares to typical MST3K fare. :p
