It's not going to break POTC:DMC's record, but it'll probably do respectable numbers for a B-movie. That's all it is really. The sad thing is the "MFin' snakes on the MFin' plane" is probably about as fun as it gets. I mean, how do you top that? Jackson then takes one and bites its head off??
Movies are all about hype these days. I have completely lost my faith in the industry due it's mistreatment of a movie as unique as A Scanner Darkly. I can only think of "mistreatment" as the word to use for it not getting beyond 300 theatres nationwide. My reasoning for it to only be shown in "art house" theatres is that it's too good for the rest of the movie going audience who would rather see shite like Snakes on a Plane because internet bloggers have become ad moguls.
And "Oh, the irony," with the recent terror revelations. "Snakes on a plane" indeed. I can just see the promoters of this movie high-fiving one another yesterday because they made the perfect choice of when to premiere their airplane movie. Didn't Nostradamus predict this? "Snakes will rain from heaven" or some such.
