It's not that I don't appreciate everything the GOP is doing to implode, I guess; it's just that having to read and hear clueless arrogance hurts some days.

Yeah, terrible as it is that he is telling women: you being raped is no worse than, and maybe not as bad as, my daughter getting knocked up ...

... I keep thinking how awful it must be for his daughter, her SO (or NSSO), and their child to hear that to him, that baby's conception was as bad as rape.

I would facepalm, but...why bother? We've elected Akin for 6 terms; why not toss him into grander, more profile politics? I swear, the UK is looking better and better as a defection. If only I had the year salary saved up, I'd be very close to being allowed in as a temporary worker.

What I don't get is how he can compare a woman deciding to keep a baby from a love affair - or at least from a presumably good time - to one being forced to keep a baby from sex she didn't want or ask for. What?

She's trying, it might seem to some. I try not to think that way, since I believe in science and all, but it's hard at times like this.

I could create a scientific argument for it. After all, what conditions are necessary for the creation of hurricanes?

1. hot air
2. spin
3. backwards (counterclockwise) momentum
4. wet
5. depression

Now, in case some of these elements are not self-explanatory, I will elaborate:
- Hot air from political convention
- spin from the spin doctors of the politicians
- backwards (counterclockwise) momentum represents the Republican desire to turn back the clock
- wet - as in "all wet" [meaning "completely mistaken" - e.g. "their ideas are all wet"]
- depression - ours, at contemplating the gullibility of voters

And with that, I believe I have conclusively proved that the concurrence of Republican conventions + hurricanes is not accidental, it is inevitable.
