Apparently the remark Foster Friess made about aspirin being clenched between 'a gal's knees' being the ideal cheap birth control was a joke.

Because it's fun to make jokes about competent adults who have to actively worry if the right to make decisions for themselves is going to be taken away by people who have no conception (pun intended) of the situation those people face! C'mon, you dour fuckers! Why aren't you laughing? This is funny shit, man! I know I have a hearty guffaw every time I hear about cops pulling over a minority and beating them without provocation, or a woman in the military being raped for having the gall to think she belongs in the same place a male citizen does. HAR HAR!

Someone ought to get hold of Freiss's address and publish it so women can leave their unwanted babies they were forced to carry to term on his doorstep. Or, you know, visit him in the middle of the night and force a couple of things of his together in such a fashion that he won't have to fuss about reproducing again, either.

He's being soundly pilloried on CNN. And honestly, him and his jokes worry me much less than the State of Virginia mandating vaginal foreign-object rape as a condition for abortion at this point. I'm starting to think Lysistrata was wrong----and Akasha was right (kill off all but 10% breeding stock). *headdesk*

For me, it's that shit like he says is what makes it possible for things like the transvaginal requirement. They feed off each other and reek of the woman being solely responsible and culpable for the consequences of sex.

I have a much older friend who is all for women's rights, had a career, was the dominant one in her marriage, raised a strong daughter, etc. ... and even SHE is always spouting how women bear the responsibility for social standards and sexual responsibility. Like not only are men slobbering sex beasts, but they have every pass TO act like that. It's goddamn 2012 - why the hell are our heads still stuck up the caveman's ass?

Too true. Alas, women in general have spent too much time worrying about god-knows-what (and are encouraged to worry about nonsense by men to keep them out of the political arena) to actually band together and start weilding ballocks knives. *sigh* I don't know. The older I get the stupider people seem to be.

Not that oppression isn't a worthy goal in itself for the new GOP, but I've been wondering if it's all a wag the dog for something larger going on we aren't seeing. Maybe just a distraction tactic, as you say.

But wealth is always the end game with these people. It's draining and exhausting to try to control such a large segment as half the population; there has to be some immediate pecuniary payoff to this. Is it to get women out of jobs and changing nappies, leaving more open for men so none of the GOP in power have to try to come up with actual additional jobs - or end outsourcing? I can certainly see that being a Newt thing - the master of privatization that he is. Is it creating so many new workers that they'll be happy for any job they get in 18 years and will be disposable if they aren't? That sure fits in with all the union-busting going on. But these guys and corporations are GREEDY; I have a hard time believing they'd be willing to wait a couple of decades for the payoff. So what's the real deal here?
