Title: "Omission"
Rating: G
Characters: Jack, Will, Gibbs
Disclaimer: I don't own them. If I did, I'd set them free to be. :-)
Summary: "Don't do anything stupid." Is it all Will's fault? Set in CotBP; written for the [livejournal.com profile] potc100 prompt "Truth."

He was coming to the conclusion the world had some funny truth.

“Have I ever given you reason not to trust me?”

More importantly, had Jack ever given Will reason to?

He seethed, letting his feet make his decision as he turned and strode quietly back out to the boat, grabbing up the closest oar he could find.

“The kid?”

“… his only child.”

Will might never understand pirate truth. But thanks to years of straining to hear orders over the snickety wheeze of bellows and ringing hammer, it was true he could understand stage-hushed pirate voices ten feet away.

Good view of this scene.

I'm sure it involved Will's lack of trust of what Jack had in mind for him, (did he know about the blood-connection then?) but I also saw a lot of Will's own incessant determination to save Elizabeth his way. He seemed in immediate fear of her being killed by Barbossa and probably wasn't willing for Jack to get in 'his' way. Will had already ignored him before rumrunner island and done what he wanted to do aboard the Pearl with Barbossa.

I think Rumrunner Island came after this scene (sometimes I can't recall them in order either - I had to ask somebody else what Jack's exact line was for this scene because I couldn't remember it, LOL). But you're right, Will ignores him several times and pretty much always to his own detriment. Still, I understand the guy - Jack has been fairly mysterious and made no mention of the Pearl or his designs upon her (and Will didn't want the ship, so why clam up? I don't know). Thanks for reading!
