veronica_rich: (bush blowjob)
As much of a kick as I'm getting out of all this press coverage of Scott McClellan's upcoming book basically calling Bush et. al. a bunch of liars about the war (which ... this is only about the 19th book from a former staffer to do that in the last six years or so, right?), I can't help but be grateful that I am the candid bitch that I am. I'm not always bright and sunny. I don't always agree with the party line, but if I can't say anything honest, I try to keep my mouth shut - in all matters. I don't make as much money as I could simply because I don't want a job where I'm constantly having to lie for somebody else. I sincerely hope that nobody ever says about me, when they hear me complaining about something, Why now? Why didn't she make it known that she felt that way then? Because that should never be a problem, especially when it comes to one's career.

(Of course, there's also the distinct likelihood that the White House staffers expressing "puzzlement" over McClellan's book and saying that he never voiced his doubts when still in the administration, are themselves just following a party line. But how seriously do you think that crew would've taken disagreement anyway? Especially from someone akin to an English major?)

Rating: PG-13
Characters: Will, Barbossa, Pintel, Ragetti
Disclaimer: I don't own. If I really did, I'd cuddle them instead of doing this to them.
Summary: An AU that takes place about five minutes into CotBP. I was inspired by a recent drabble that advised its readers to be grateful for what they got in POTC - even that which they did not like - because it could've just ended much sooner with a primary character's early death. So - I went a step further. Or, rather, back.
Warnings: CHARACTER DEATH. Can't state it much louder.

The curse never specified warm blood )

ETA: If you were interested by this, you may want to read a drabble someone else based on this, here. (Personally, I like hers better. There's still some hope in it, somewhere.) And just lately, [livejournal.com profile] ainsoph15 even wrote her own version of an AU.
