Poster art
Dec. 3rd, 2012 01:27 pmEmpire showed the new teaser poster for the upcoming Star Trek movie today; here's the link. It's really rather clever and well done once you stare at it for five seconds and figure out the shape, especially. ;-)
I like pop art - movie posters, book covers, album covers that are creative. I don't think we get as much album art as we used to with the LPs back in the 70s and 80s. There's not as much room or need for it on a CD cover or iPod/Zune digital image. With albums, especially if they opened up like a book (whether it was a double album or just a vanity with the sleeve on one side and pasteboard only on the other), there was room for more art, and it was bigger space to see details. Some of the more memorable ones were for Heart, Styx, Queen, Kansas, Toto, Journey, Steppenwolf ... all the supergroups, obviously.
(Since I'm talking about art, I'll use my icon of one of my favorite pieces of fantasy art by Lubov.)
