It's not the only article to address the failure of the Bush presidency thus far, but it is one of the better ones insofar as it's comprehensive and sweeping without being confusing or too academic for the average reader to understand.

This is the perfect time to say, "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Not that every C student who has ever lived didn't learn from history, but most of those didn't have the obstinacy of a bull combined withe the excessive pride of a diva.

You know, the hell of it is, I don't WANT a C student in the White House. I like for my president to be smarter than I am! I don't understand people who support him but also like to poke fun at him for his mispronunciations and general lack of intelligence. Shouldn't that embarrass them??

Thanks so much for that link. I have NEVER been so depressed about our government. And I've lived through the Nixon and Reagan presidencies. I might not have agreed with their policies, but never did I feel that they were actually undermining the bedrock upon which our government is founded. I find this administration terrfying. Where basic human rights are ignored (I see the woman at the CIA that leaked we were sending people abroad to be tortured was just fired) and our Constitution is seen as a road block.

With Reagan, it was those around him making the actual policies who were dangerous - as we now know, the man didn't actually know what was going on half the time, because he was partly mentally "gone." And those men WERE dangerous, deregulating everything they could get their hands on to make smaller industries more accessible/profitable for their buddies.

Nixon ... I've always kind of felt sorry for the guy. He didn't do anything previous presidents hadn't done, with respect to the spying on the opposing party. He inherited the war and except for Cambodia (which was a dumbass move), I think he actually did try to bring it to some conclusion.

But THIS crew right now - my GOD, I've never seen such blatant greed and evil and arrogance. I've been trying to figure out for a while what would stop these assholes, and all I could come up with was if enough people banded together and refused to pay income tax. If enough people did it, there wouldn't be enough cops to arrest us, or prisons to hold us. (Of course, the problem with this is most people have it automatically deducted by their employers, so it would fall to people like me who have to keep track of and pay my own employment taxes.)

Last week's issue of the New Yorker had a new article by Seymour Hirsch. The bombing of Iran is imminent.

Of course it is. That and anti-gay marriage are the only things they have left.
