The move by the GOP and Mitt Romney's campaign to selectively edit Obama's speech about small business owners not building their businesses all on their own without any help through their lives, to make it the centerpiece of Romney's election campaign LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS from Election Day, makes the GOP swift-boating of John Kerry eight years ago look like a childish effort.

You know, there are things that don't need my commentary. They stand on their own. I think I'll just leave this here for now, in that spirit ...

Following some of the efforts I've seen where I work (in Hancock County, Ind.) for various companies to wrangle government cooperation, tax breaks, federally-funded projects, etc. to make their future sites "shovel ready" -- these businesses DON'T WANT to "build it alone." Anyone who understands how business is actually conducted in this country can see the obvious point of Obama's words -- but unfortunately not everyone has that knowledge (or willfully ignores it).

I'm pretty sure it's the latter. Anybody who thinks they got where they are with no help from anyone would pretty much have to be King of the Cheetahs ... because that's about the only job where you wouldn't need some formal education, food and shelter to grow up, highways to get there, and inspected food to grow on.

It certainly explains the state of our roads and infrastructure...they only care about their own private roads.

The ARRA stimulus has done a lot toward fixing some highways in the past few years, while also giving people temporary jobs at the same time. Republicans love to hold this up as a "waste" of money just like they cite any welfare program as "giving away" money, and I have yet to see the Democrat who will point to the local communities and states where all that money is being spent and explain, very simply, that it all stimulates those economies and helps some businesses STAY in business. If they weren't such pussies afraid of being shouted down by the Jesus voters angry that they're gradually losing their white privilege in modern society, they WOULD.

The comment about the Olympic prep, if he'd just said his short piece and added that he was basing it on what he'd seen in the news but that was his only source, I think it would've been fine. It seems fair to base an answer on what you've read from a reputable source, after all. But the more I see, the more I'm sure he's not used to explaining himself to ordinary people, and it smacks of being dangerously out of touch with his intended constituency.

There were some serious cock-ups with the security firm supposed to be handling the Olympics; I don't deny that. But that's because they were handed the job because of their connections to certain Tories rather than their ability to do the job. :(

But a politician visiting another country and making diplomatic blunders doesn't exactly make himself look electable. ;)

As Dave Barry wrote, even if a javelin came flying through the air at that moment and went through his head, the only correct answer to if the preparations are good was "Yes." LOL
