Just wondering if my Red Dwarf friends on Twitter happened to see a couple of tiny tweets from Richard Naylor about Series X today ... he noted there would be no Duane Dibley in this season, and no Ace, either.

Well, that certainly narrows down story options, LOL. ;-)

ETA: For all the good it does, it's behind a cut now. Richard certainly wasn't circumspect about not hiding it, LOL.

Indeed. We don't need Duane and Ace. I don't like it when they are forced into the story. :-)

A lot of casual RD fans want them back without really thinking about whether it would make story sense.

I was a bit surprised to hear there's no Ace cos I thought it would be a part of explaining Rimmer's story--most importantly which Rimmer it is we have!

Interesting...my impression of episode 6 was that it'd be all about revelations, the chief being explaining all the kerfuffle with Rimmer. I expected this big long explanation, but it would be very Dwarfian to explain everything away in one sentence!

Yeah, that tweet is what got it into my head that it's a Rimmer-centric episode with Ace being a key player. Today's revelation about there being no Ace in RDX means I've got to completely re-think my theories. And you're right--we don't know very much for sure. But I need *something* so I cling desperately to my theories :)

You'd think if he were going to have a midlife crisis in BTE, or miss people in S7, his only sons might be involved somehow. I'm beginning to think it isn't Rimmer we should be wondering if it's the Original or not, but ... Lister!

Indeed there is! A possible alternate Lister... I've got all these fic ideas flooding into my brain--not sure which of them to entertain first!

In fact, I had an idea for a ficathon, called Mind the Gap where people submit ficlets from the series II-III gap. But I have a feeling it'd only *really* appeal to a few people. In fact, if I can find one another person to agree to it it'd bring the number of other participants behind it up to....one! ;D

Hee, I forgot to hide this as a spoiler, probably because I'm pretty indifferent. I love them both, but Duane is funny in limited doses, and Ace ... Well, let's be cruel here: No human Ace was ever meant to survive long enough to look 50 years old. So that really wouldn't make sense.

Yeah, neither of us had to do a cut, I did it just in case. And yes, Naylor Jr. is certainly impenitent in his tweeting of spoilers ;D
