PONG. Back when it was still originally in marketing and circulation. What's not to love? Simple, straightforward, easy to figure out.

No age remarks from the peanut gallery ...

My answer as well. It was all we had. I bare;y even played it. I mostly watched demos of it at the OSCO.

I didn't get to play it much; it was the adults' game console. Mostly it was me watching my parents be, y'know, 25 and play it. LOL

My folks weren't into buying brand-name stuff, so we didn't get the classic Pong but a Sears or Monty-Ward knock-off but it had three games instead of one (singles, doubles, solo)

I still remember the state-of-the-art Pong system. TWO removable paddles! Gunmetal gray color! Spinny knobs!

Did it have to be a home game? If so, Pong was probably (one of?) the first for me too. But I think I played Space Invaders at the arcade before that. (Do they even have arcades anymore? :-p )

Oh, there are arcades. You been to a mall lately? Kids always need a place to congregate away from Teh Old Farts.

Sadly, none of the malls within a 50 mile radius of me have one. Though the one that's closest seems to have a 'space' (aka: an empty storefront, one of many in that mall) set aside for RPGers - which would be very cool, except I've never seen it in use.

Maybe the kids in this area are doing something far more nefarious to get away from folks like me Teh Old Farts. (Now I really feel like I'm missing out.)

But aren't you guys in a fairly liberal city with stuff young folk enjoy doing? I think arcades probably do better in areas with actual old farts way outnumbering the likes of us?

Yeah, I'm told there are Roller Derbys and Gay Bars and Head Shops and Concerts, and so on and so forth. I've never personally witnessed any of those things here, but my go-to weekend refuge is still The Mall. :-p So, yeah, I never really outgrew my teenaged habits, and I am, in fact, one of Teh Old Farts myself these days, so the lack of arcades in this area (or, more accurately, their location) will likely remain a mystery...

Pac-Man. I played it on a portable Atari the size of my head, which I got for my 12th birthday.

I had Pac-Man mastered well before 12. This gives you an idea of my age. *G*
