I haven't written original fiction in so long I'm sort of at a loss of how to get started on it again. I have a sort-of outline of what I want to write, not to mention a six-year-old idea of the characters and plot, but I'm just so fucking LAZY anymore. Argh.

Have been up a ridiculous number of hours today; got up with the roosters to drive toward close to where [livejournal.com profile] pktaxwench went to a wedding and spent two hours in a Bob Evans trying not to freak out the normals too badly. (At least the waitress was well tipped - no, not tupped; we don't swing that way - at the end of it.) I told her if she'd come to ARCHON in October, I'd drive her across the MO/IL state line while there and we'll be able to say we've had four visits in as many states in less than one year. :-D I used to have a goal of trying to visit/drive through as many of the Lower 48 as possible, at least, before I die - I may have to revise that to include visits with [livejournal.com profile] pktaxwench in it to be valid visits. HAHAHA!

Speaking of frenzied traveling, check out Jeff and Taylor Turner - they are a father-son team who recently completed their goal of fishing in 50 different bodies of water in all 50 states in 50 days. I heard about it on NPR this morning while driving. Jeff got the idea earlier this year and proposed it to his son, who will start college in the fall and won't be available to do things as readily anymore, as a way for them to spend some time together before the whole "cat's in the cradle" thing sets in, I guess. (Needless to say, for those of you who know me fannishly at all, the Fishing Turners cracked me up.)

Spent the afternoon out and about with [livejournal.com profile] beldar and [livejournal.com profile] the_dark_snack, too. (This has been a Social Saturday, brought to you by the letter S.) Chinese buffet is awesome, but I need to stop reading fortunes in their company ...

[livejournal.com profile] dahlianna reminded me halfway through the afternoon this would've been Mom's 100th day since her bone marrow transplant, and they were going to go out and celebrate tonight. Fortunately she has a good friend who took her out instead. (Hell of a way to end a happy post, eh?)

Hey ...

Love the fishing Turners. I wonder which body of water they fished in my state? I'll have to look it up.

Marking anniversaries is normal; hard, but normal, I think. I mark different things since my father died, and I still will pick up the phone to call him over a year and a half later. I'm glad your sister had someone to be with. I hope you did too.

Sorry I couldn't make it to meet with y'all, but sounds like you had a good time!

"Fishing Turners" - LOL, my ears perk up too whenever I hear "Turner." I wonder though, was his grandfather (or other ancestor) an actual turner? (Hypothetical wonderings about fictional characters, clearly I have too much time on my hands)

One of the bride's cousins has the last name "Turner". I was flipping through the program during the homily (Catholic wedding and all) and nearly dissolved in giggles. My compantion just looked at me funny.
