I'm not sure you need a commentary out of me on anything concerning that gasbag Rush Limbaugh. I'll let the clip from his show and the transcript speak for themselves:

LIMBAUGH: We're going to go to Chicago. This is Charles. Charles, thank you for waiting and for calling. Great to have you here. Hello.

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Rush, listen, I voted Republican, and I didn't -- really didn't want to see Obama get in office. But, you know, Rush, you're one reason to blame for this election, for the Republicans losing.

First of all, you kept harping about voting for Hillary. The second big issue is the -- was the torture issue. I'm a veteran. We're not supposed to be torturing these people. This is not Nazi Germany, Red China, or North Korea. There's other ways of interrogating people, and you kept harping about it -- "It's OK," or "It's not really torture." And it was just more than waterboarding. Some of these prisoners were killed under torture.

And it just -- it was crazy for you to keep going on and on like Levin and Hannity and Hewitt. It's like you're all brainwashed.


And my last comment is, no matter what Obama does, you will still criticize him because I believe you're brainwashed. You're just -- and I hate to say it -- but I think you're a brainwashed Nazi. Anyone who could believe in torture just has got to be - there's got to be something wrong with them.

LIMBAUGH: You know --

CALLER: And I know Bush wanted to keep us safe and all of that, but we're not supposed to be torturing these people.

LIMBAUGH: You know --

LIMBAUGH: Charles, if anybody is admitting that they're brainwashed it would be you.

CALLER: No, no, no, Rush. I don't think so.

CALLER: You, Hannity, Hewitt, and Levin are all brainwashed and you know it.

LIMBAUGH: -- you said -- you said at the beginning of your phone call --

CALLER: Yeah.

LIMBAUGH: -- that you didn't want Obama in there --

CALLER: That's right.

LIMBAUGH: -- but you voted for him because of me.

CALLER: I didn't vote for him. I voted for McCain. I voted Republican.

LIMBAUGH: Oh, so --

CALLER: I voted Republican.

LIMBAUGH: -- you're saying I turned people off to --

CALLER: You turned people off with all your -- all this "vote for Hillary" and all this BS, because you must think people are really stupid.

LIMBAUGH: That was Operation Chaos. That was to keep the --

CALLER: You -- no. It didn't work.

LIMBAUGH: -- chaos in the [unintelligible] of the Democrat primaries.

CALLER: It didn't work. And now what we have with you Hannity, Levin, and Hewitt: sour grapes. That's all we have. And believe me, I'm not -- I'm more to the right than I am to the left.

LIMBAUGH: Oh, of course, you are.

CALLER: I am, and that's --

LIMBAUGH: Of course, you are. You wouldn't be calling here with all these sour grapes if you weren't.

CALLER: Well, I'm so tired of listening to you --

LIMBAUGH: Oh, of course, you are.

CALLER: -- go on and on with this -- you've been brainwashed.

LIMBAUGH: I don't know of anybody who died from torture. I do not ever --

CALLER: We are not supposed to torture people.

LIMBAUGH: I do not ever --

CALLER: Do you remember World War II, the Nazis? The Nuremberg Trials?

LIMBAUGH: I --

CALLER: Do you remember the Nuremberg Trials?

LIMBAUGH: Charles --

CALLER: Klaus Barbie?

CALLER: Huh?

LIMBAUGH: Barack Obama --

CALLER: What's the matter with you?

LIMBAUGH: Barack --

CALLER: You never even served in a military.

LIMBAUGH: Barack Obama is --

CALLER: I served in the Marine Corps and the Army.

LIMBAUGH: Charles, Barack Obama is president of the United States today because of stupid, ignorant people who think like you do. You pose -- you and your ignorance are the most expensive commodity this country has. You think you know everything. You don't know diddly-squat.

You call me a Nazi? You call me somebody who supports torture and you want credibility on this program? You know, you're just plain embarrassing and ludicrous. But it doesn't surprise me that you're the kind of Republican that our last candidate attracted. Because you're no Republican at all based on what the hell you've said here.

Just in case you need inducement to click the cut-text, Rush is saying the above to a caller who identifies as former military and a Republican opposing torture. Rush never does really explain why the caller is so stupid or ignorant, really. (And while I don't think anyone is beyond questioning, I'm not sure I could bring myself to call a veteran - especially an obviously old one - "stupid." But then again, I've known for nearly twenty years that Limbaugh has absolutely no grace or respect in him.)

It seems to me that Limbaugh is describing himself in that rant to "Charles."
I mean, the "you pose -- you and your ignorance are the most expensive commodity this country has," just screams "RUSH!!!" to me.

When it comes to ignorance, Rush takes the cake. He *might* be a smart guy, as beldar likes to point out (though he's not a Dittohead) and simply using manipulation instead of straight reporting to sway things his way. But things like this and his attack on Fox in 2006 seriously make me question how "smart" he can really be. I'm even smart enough to know you don't take a low blow at a disabled man's involuntary illness, on the national stage.

Limbaugh is a man with an ego. That's all. A very over-inflated ego, but an ego nonetheless.

Smart has fuck-all to do with it. The ego does not have a brain, it feeds off emotion, not intelligence.

There's a reason why Limbaugh got caught abusing painkillers - his ego has killed his intelligence. When one speaks from ego as much as he does, their intelligence dies, a very painful thing.

Wasn't that around the same time he attacked people with Parkinson's?

That was awesome, Rush proving he is the ignoramus most of us "liberals" know he is.

For some refreshment, please read Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope. I just started reading it and was pleasantly surprised how unkind in a humorous way he writes about people like Ann Coulter. The man has truth & integrity on his side and he's aware of it, so those people are just gnats to him. He is so astute that his "rise to power" (a friend compare his "rise" to Hitler and Mussolini) no longer seems surprising to me.

I don't remember much being said about his book during the election - he did not campaign on the platform, "Read my book," but I'm sure that any "undecided" voters who read it, had their minds' decided because of it.

This is why Limbaugh has become so repugnant now. It's basic good vs. evil and good has finally tipped the scales.

You know, what struck me about it all was his tone and his words. I know I've been pretty scathing once in a while when I write about politics in my own journal, but I can't recall ever directly calling an individual person such an insulting thing as stupid. It's one thing to speak in generalities at nobody in particular ("Those Republicans are being stupid for doing this") but it's quite another to say to a person "You are stupid" - especially someone ON YOUR SIDE, essentially. And on a live radio show to boot? It isn't Rush's LiveJournal that 200 people might see.

Rush wants to be Relevant - and he no longer is. That train has chugged out of the station, long ago - I think it might've even been when he went so far as to physically make fun of Michael J. Fox, apparently not taking into account there are thousands of other people in his country with the same condition, SOME WHO MIGHT BE REPUBLICANS, who might not appreciate being laughed at for something they can't control and which they find personally embarrassing and/or painful and limiting. Asshole.

And yes - I WOULD call Rush that. But not on his show. Because I have a smidgen of class.

Watched that clip online last night. I didn't realize name-calling constituted a valid argument. What gets me, though, is that Rush thinks he's the one who decides who is and is not a Republican. What would he say if he met my boss, who is a Republican but hopes Obama does well?

For a while, I had hoped for Bush to do well, just because whatever he did in this country's name would reflect on it and affect it - and me and everyone else. But I sort of knew he wouldn't, because his purpose in life is to be a major fuckup - he's done it his entire adult life in much less important roles, so I couldn't imagine he wouldn't screw up the presidency. BUT I DIDN'T WISH FOR HIM TO FAIL. I simply expected it.
