I knew it was supposed to be a riff on Joaquin. I've seen photos of the guy and have been trying to figure out what is going on with him. I honestly think there's something in the Phoenix family's genetic makeup with depression, and they need to stop having kids. (Take it from someone who has it in her family, too.)

As for the meth comment, I didn't have such a reaction. I don't really care who makes fun of meth dealers; it's put entirely too many people in their graves and ought to be shunned and mocked. Meth makers put their neighbors in danger by mixing volatile substances - I have a friend who was once dating a guy she found out well after they'd broken up had been arrested for having a lab in his house NEXT DOOR TO AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

I have plenty of meth users and no doubt makers as customers. They don't look like Ben Stiller's get-up tonight. Someone wrote that "joke?" Besides Stiller, I would really like to know who the Oscar official was who Ok'd that "routine."

There was a day when the Oscars had class with humor. I see it's going the way of the biggest grossing movies - dumb and dumber. And they wonder where their audience has gone.

I'm just remembering my years covering the sheriff and police - at the time, MO was the meth capital of the country. Plenty of the people arrested for meth usage looked like that, or worse.

But ... I do agree the fact it was aimed at Stiller as Phoenix was in poor taste. Because if he hadn't looked like that, there would've been no need for the joke in the first place. I guess.
