Well, it's not fandom, at least. This is about that post I pointed you to at metaquotes - I'm more and more convinced that any community with the word "meta" in the name is code for "wank."

Heh. It's the same everywhere. For disagreeing, I've been called a DINO (Democrat In Name Only) by Democrats, and a RINO by Republicans (when I was a Republican). I've been called a Christian by Pagans, and a Pagan by Christians (when I was a Christian). There's nothing new under the sun!

The most important thing (imo) is to remember that these people are a tiny percentage of the whole group, and not representative of the whole group. No matter what the group.

I often think that this is why progressives don't get anywhere. All movements --not just feminism, seem to chase their own tails in this manner. It's frsutrating. Fandom wank is just a symptom of a much larger problem, I think.

I wonder how much of this energy playing Internet Thought Police on issues of feminism could be put to better use working on legislation toward paying women an equal wage to men for the same work. Or persuading schools to lay off this failed policy of "abstinence-only" education (and therefore empowering girls to make better choices about sex, earlier - including NOT having it).
