The second statement makes about as much sense as the first.
I've seen posts of Republicans making fun of people thinking Obama is "the Messiah." Which, I make fun of that belief as well, but I'm pretty sure I'm coming from a different place than at least some of those people - whereas I've never credited or blamed God for my political representation, I know that some of these people really do think God appoints Republican. (Which - WTF last week, God? LOL) Seriously, you cannot put that kind of burden on any human being, especially one who runs for office - every public servant is after something for him- or herself. Every single one. The difference, of course, is that those who strive for a practical "win-win" for themselves and their constituents, and maybe even their political opponents sometimes, are good public servants ... and those who are of the "me first, and if you benefit, that's just a bonus" stripe are not.
(I don't care how well that man plays basketball. My skeptical inclinations will not be overcome by messianic persuasion. He has to do some work to satisfy me.)
In other news, I wanted to post the YouTube of Olbermann on MSNBC waxing biblical about Prop 8, but I see the rest of the Internet has already done so. I don't even care that he isn't gay. He's still my Drama Queen Boyfriend.

Coach: Yeah?
Tommy: Oh, I get it! Our God's stronger than their God.
Coach: We all have the same God, Solomon!
Tommy: Soooo....am I the only one who sees a conflict of interest here?
That show is all kinds of win. *G*

Date: 2008-11-12 08:46 am (UTC)I think people will settle down about Obama, at least most people. So many people have been living in despair for years, I don't blame them for going a little nuts.

Date: 2008-11-12 12:27 pm (UTC)I expect you're right. It's not that I blame anyone for feeling more hopeful, but I'd rather not see them end up just as frustrated with him when he doesn't sing with the angels, IF he ends up being a much better president anyway.
