vejiicakes, who celebrates today!
Why do I single her out, you may ask? Well, it's not because she's a fabulous artist or anything, nosirree. *G* But I have a lot of other people on my f-list who produce great art, and writing. Why this?
Because this is not a happy day for Americans. Seven years hasn't made too much more difference than one. What happened in 2001 will hang around for as long this is a country. In 50 years, or 100, however, it won't be a big deal - just another date for schoolchildren to memorize out of their history books. Heaven only knows what else will happen between now and then to eclipse 9/11, even.
So - rather than wallow in the day, I'd rather takebeldar's advice and find something good about it. To quote him, if you know somebody in this country with a birthday or anniversary today, give them a little extra "yippee" to hoist them up from the drudge.

I'm always hesitant to say something to that effect because it could sound too much like, "HEY STOP MOURNING AND PAY ATTENTION TO MEEE," but I really am tired of this culmination of our culture's vilification/reverence of death, and media overstimulation of the 9/11 tragedy. Gouge much? Anyway, thank you ^_^
