My Elizabeth stories

Just a listing of my Elizabeth stories from the almost-5 years I've been in this fandom. I was digging through what I had of fanfic in Memories and was surprised I'd written even these four:
Hatchling Rising, which gives one view of what Elizabeth might have done in Tortuga in DMC before she met up with Jack and Norrington. Told from her POV, third-person, I was quite proud of this story because Elizabeth is not my primary character of love from the series (I like her, just not as much as other characters). I think I gave her a pretty fair characterization, though anyone is free to disagree.
My Contradictions series, which is primarily J/W, features Elizabeth in a few of the 9 parts, prominently each time, usually kicking someone's ass either verbally or physically, and taking names. *G* I remember at the time a few people asked me: "How realistic is it that she would be training as a diplomat in France, away from her father or a fiance/husband, especially?" (Keep in mind I came up with this in either 2003 or 2004, I forget.) Well - how realistic is it that she's king of the pirates? LOL
My J/E effort, A Sorta Fairytale. I won't pretend it makes her look wise or particularly adult the whole time, but it does show she has standards and will not stand for them to be compromised for long without taking action to stop it. It also shows she's capable of existing without men and willing to take that plunge, hard as it is.
With Interest is part of a longer series that ends up being W/E and J/W. Elizabeth gets a visit from Bill Turner - she's shown as a mother and a pirate king, working in the duties *I* would think she'd have in peacetime, anyway, if she were to be a successful king.

As much as I *saw* J/W by the subtext, I also saw too many stories where Elizabeth was getting screwed over and it bothered me greatly. But I didn't write her that way because of fandom - I just did it because it seemed fair she should have her own storyline, and that she *would* participate in their story further, since the three of them are tied together by it.

I see Jack quite polyamorous too (nothing bad in it -- polygamy can be fun *g*), but Elizabeth might not be so willing to share him with every second tavern trollop (J/W/E, of course, is another story altogether :p).
What I saw in DMC was physical attraction between the two, but real, deep, heartfelt love... nuh-uh. It's like a groupie and a rock star -- can get very boring when the glamour fades :p

He'd simply, calmly remind Jack he has prospects elsewhere and if he leaves the ship, Jack should be able to easily replace a skilled blacksmith/swordsmith/strong pair of deckhands/young lover with all his own teeth and boundless energy, with no problems whatsoever. ;-)
