To quote the kids today, I have some feels about the new RoboCop remake trailer:
On the one hand, I really am hinky about messing with a good original. RoboCop was before The Matrix, before a lot of fear about higher machines (well, not Terminator of course) really set in. It criticized corporate culture and had a kick-ass cops-partners story to boot, that whole dynamic with Alex and Anne. It was actually a good movie that holds up on later watchings.
But man; the new one's managed to get Sam Jackson, Gary Oldman, AND Michael Keaton into one room? That's hard to turn down. This is a remake that actually could be interesting, just because I'll be curious to see what new/different can be said about the issues brought up in the original, after nearly 30 years of even more rapid technological advancement and social change.
