Ah, feminists. It's odd how I've considered myself one of you for a few decades, yet how often we don't agree when it comes to third-wave so-called "concerns." (I've made my dislike of much of third-wave feminism issues quite clear in the past. I just don't think many of those believers live on the same planet I do.) Naturally, it's to be expected if there are two or more people engaging in a philosophy or organization, that opinions will vary - and because I'm one of you, I feel perfectly justified poking fun when it pleases me, just as I can make fun of Midwesterners, Southerners, and Americans when the mood and circumstances coincide.

In which I go on a tear about humorless and can't-see-the-forest-for-the-trees feminists - you may not want to read this )

I've seen references to the [livejournal.com profile] schmoop_bingo here and there around on personal LJs, so I went to have a look, and found a master list of prompts for it. (Apprently this is like a challenge that you sign up for, and write something short for each of 24 prompts randomly generated on a "bingo card" for you.)

As I was looking over the list, it occurred to me that while I do write mostly 'shippy-type fic, I have a difficult time - or I FEEL I have a difficult time, anyway - writing "schmoop." There's absolutely nothing wrong with writing schmoop, and this isn't me smugly denouncing schmoop - it's me saying "I don't know if I can do those prompts in a schmoopy fashion." Yeah, I generally try to write happy endings and kissy-smoochy-sexy stuff, but I'm not sure I'd call much of it schmoop.

I'm not signing up for this challenge, but some of the prompts are sort of interesting to try to get ideas off of for the fandom I like. Do memes like this help any of you fanficcers write very much?
