Censorship has never been proven to foster a better governance by and for a population, and what generally happens is once one lock is put on the door, arguments can be made for other, stronger, bigger locks to be added later on. It's one thing to slap ratings on a movie or television show or video game; as long as it's still available for adults to watch and play and read at their leisure, the ratings allow legal guardians to control their children's viewing and reading (and honestly, that's the parents' job, not the state's). But I don't need someone controlling my media consumption. I'm free, 37, and pay taxes - I should be allowed to watch and read whatever I want, and I believe that no matter how shocking or disgusting a piece of art an artist produces, as long as they're not hurting anyone but possibly themselves in the production of it, it should be allowed to exist for my judgment.
