Where did he blow in from?
Jul. 29th, 2008 12:47 pmWould somebody mind enlightening me what mindset has spawned all the highly-praised post-AWE SadSack!Will fics in POTC fandom? (Probably from the same swamp that spawned Ball-less!Jack, Slut!Elizabeth, and Cruel!Norrigton.) When did Will Turner in the movies ever act like Eeyore, except maybe for 15 seconds of fawning over Elizabeth at the beginning of CotBP? The Will I saw usually got pissed off or stabbed something when he was thwarted (at least before he learned to negotiate in AWE).
What puzzles me more are the responses to these fics. Either it's "aww, poor Will" (barf) or "how dare he make Elizabeth feel bad!" (*eyeroll*) Geez, people, remember that if you do J/E, Jack and Elizabeth are not the marooned, innocent teenagers of "Blue Lagoon" - he's an old pirate and she's an adulteress. And Will is the captain of the ship that can sink both of them if he so chooses once they step foot off land. "Merciful" does not equal "wet bitch."
(I had enough of WetBitch!Will from the early days of Turrow. Crying and sobbing and clinging to Jack then was no more in-character for him than this shit is.)
