According to a CBS affiliate in Studio City, CA, apparently Orlando will not be charged with a hit-and-run from his wreck a couple of weeks ago. (If you're clueless, trawl back through last week's entries - not this past week, but before that.)
An investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department determined that Bloom walked about 60 feet to avoid photographers, but then returned to the crash scene, she said.
"There was insufficient evidence that he was trying to get away," Robison said.
There was also no evidence that the actor was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, she added.
An investigation into the actions of the paparazzi was still open, but the only case turned over to prosecutors was that of Bloom, Robison said.
My advice to him (were he reading)? Pull a Johnny and stay out of this country as much as possible. Until he mangles his face or loses all his money, he'll always be guilty in public opinion, no matter what he's involved with or what officials investigate to the contrary. That's the way it works here - we overpay paparazzi ungodly sums to hound celebrities and demand accountability for nothing, and let the real criminals stay in office and collect their paychecks and favors well after they've waged war, cleaned out half the U.S. treasury, and tortured detainees without just cause.
