Not undecided - just not homicidal :-/
Apr. 20th, 2004 01:00 amBeen giving more energy from my few brain neurons to the issue of RPS in fanfic. Recent discussions in another LJ post has helped set them to firing against one another. I also Googled the Internet to find more references to the topic.
I still don't like RPS; still don't plan to read it or write it, or recommend it at any point to other readers. The larger part of my annoyance involves the issue of respect as it relates to the practice of writing RPS. Which should win out - respect to the people being written about/portrayed, or respect to the writers for their own opinions and their own viewpoints? (A much smaller point of the issue is my own penchant for wanting to be right all the time. Yes, I am like this. *G*)
I've decided I have more in life to worry about than other people writing RPS about people who are not me. If those affected people have no interest in reading or responding to what is written about them, then I certainly don't possess the moral authority to do it for them. I can not do it myself and live just as happy a life as I can getting upset with those who do write and read it - probably more, I suspect.
(But I reserve the right to occasional future rants as needed to balance out my equilibrium. ;-) )
