The DVD is out in some parts of the world already, and I was reading a scan of part of the box in someone's journal. (I won't say who they are just in case they don't want anyone to know, or get swamped - unless they give me explicit permission for a link.) Since this person has posted a link to their entry in a discussion community, I feel safe in now providing the direct link if you haven't yet seen it.

Two interesting things:

First question: What does the future hold for Will and Elizabeth? Now that he's captain of the Flying Dutchman, is she going to wait for him? Answer: True love never dies, but their story is yet to be told.

Second: Since Will honored his destiny on the Flying Dutchman, in 10 years does he get to return to land for good, thereby freeing his father and crew? Answer: Every 10 years, Will may step on land for one day. He is bound to the Flying Dutchman forever.

There are a few others, too. I don't know if these are on the U.S. DVD, but I'm betting they are. Be interesting to see what fandom reaction is to these (especially that second one, given the writers' insistence on the "only 10 years' service" thing) ...

Actually, the bit about the crew not being set free is what gets me. I know I'm going to sound paranoid, but it almost sounds like what I had asked Ted back in the summer. Sure you can say Will is trapped forever on the Dutchman, but they had to go in and mention the crew as well? Why now, brown cow?

I'm sure it's all done in an explicit effort to keep everyone buying and watching, if more movies come out (even though Orlando and Keira have said they don't want to do any more - what the hell else can you do with them?).

I'm probably being thick, but how does that work?

(As for Keira and Orlando, all I know is that there were already negotiations for cameo roles in a possible P4. I don't know the outcome or anything, just that it happened way before AWE was released.)

I don't know how it works myself - but they didn't know how it worked either, and they managed to get two movies and a few billion dollars out of it. If you figure it out, let me know.

(I hope not, really. I'd like to see those two do other things. Also, I know how a Will cameo would work, but how would an Elizabeth cameo? She comes strolling out of Jack's cabin in nothing but HIS boot?)

Easy; she's pirate king, get a pirate-y issue settled by her. I actually thought her cameo would have been easier to work in than Orlando's. As for the actors, I don't follow much of what they do beyond which movie they're in and how I think they did in them, so I don't mind either way if they do a cameo or not. Being the PotC fan I am, I'd probably like to see them again for a moment.

All Will has to do is show up in the middle of a fight, or after one to harvest the dead. That's where I thought it was easy. *G*

I don't follow Keira, but I do watch Orlando's other projects if I can. I don't wish to see him typecast in this role or others like it; he's trying to do some different things and I wish he'd keep doing so, is all.

Oh, yes. I've been trying not to do the fangirl thing of scripting out Will and Liz's non-existent cameo appearances, for fear of getting my hopes up, but its just too much fun.

Jack can get himself stranded at sea, but knows to bring a dead body with him so as to be picked up by the Dutchman. Which comes far too late for his tastes, of course, and will be sure to leave his complaint with the management.

And The Management will promptly invent the bird and fly it, preferably with both hands at once. :-P
