My character ...
May. 5th, 2007 11:42 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Is about six feet tall, give or take an inch. But not the tallest man he knows - there's more than one reason he looks up to Norrington
Isn't exclusively dedicated to being attracted to females, but he doesn't sit around and think about orientation, per se. He just loves who he loves
Is fascinated by Tia Dalma, and not scared of her, as he is wary of her intentions
Would be angry beyond belief to find out about Elizabeth's role in Jack's death - not because he thinks her flawless - he knows she's not - but because he thinks she's smarter than he himself is and wonders why she couldn't find another solution
Would like to kick Jack Sparrow's ass for sending him aboard the Dutchman with little to no information about what he was heading into - but not nearly as much as he'd like to kick himself for not having the wherewithal to ask Jack more questions
Realizes there's no chance for much of a relationship with his father at this point, even if he's freed of Jones's curse; it's just what he has to do in order to sleep at night. He left England to find his father, and Will never forgets a promise, even to himself
Loves oranges and other citrus (thanks
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Would never admit that he really does enjoy taking charge and giving orders - and having them obeyed
Would have made an officer worthy of Norrington's rank, someday, had he been able to get past the "obey orders at all cost" mindset of a regulated military such as the RN
Expects much more of himself than of anyone around him, except Elizabeth - and, until lately, Norrington
Dislikes squirrels - too much like rats, which he became *too* well-acquainted with while serving as a cabin boy at age 10
Remembers spending an afternoon with Jack when he was about five years old, while his parents "visited" back home. They wandered the street market and the docks, and Jack showed him just enough about fencing to pique his interest
Can read and write, thanks to his mother, who traded lessons for little Will from a local reverend for doing his wash
Learned acrobatics from his stint as a cabin boy, while working and playing in the rigging. Later, he practiced in Brown's rafters
Was given an option by Gov. Swann between learning smithing, cobbling, tailoring, fishing, or animal husbandry, at age 13. He nearly went with the animals, and then he spotted an old, rusty sword in Brown's shop awaiting repair
Secretly craves glory and accolades just as much as Jack or Elizabeth
Isn't sure who he's more jealous of or angry with when he sees the two of them kissing on the Pearl
Wasn't putting off sex with Elizabeth because of shyness or inexperience, but because there was only five months between his parents' marriage and his own birth, and he doesn't want his children to think of themselves as even half-bastards
Is apparently immune to drowning

Yes, and yes. I agree wholeheartedly, particularly as he merits glory and accolades more than the other two do. I get the impression that he's been very lonely for much of his life, and I think he has done a lot of the things he has done not only because he thinks they are right, but because he wants to be noticed. I think he's trying to get positive attention from his actions, and to form some kind of connection with the people around him based on his capabilities, rather than on his social status. Not because he is egotistical (as if) but he is proud (in the good sense) and would like some sort of acknowledgement.
I love the idea that he met Jack when he was little, back when Jack wasn't called Jack, and looked quite different to how he does now. I'd love to see a dawning realisation of this childhood memory in the films, because it seems so plausible.
Loves oranges and other citrus *sigh* And what else was it? Popsicles? ;)

Date: 2007-05-06 03:20 am (UTC)This idea has always interested me, and it also features in my own mental backstory for Will. Now if only someone more talented than me would write it...*nudge* *g*
Isn't sure who he's more jealous of or angry with when he sees the two of them kissing on the Pearl.
Good call. He expected a lot more decency from both of them.
Is apparently immune to drowning.
Hee! No kidding, huh? The sea just keeps on spitting him back out! If anything, you'd think Jack would want to have him around as good luck charm...

Well, I'd think Jack would want him around for more than that, personally. ;-) But I'm not sure he expected from Jack the same behavior he expected of Elizabeth. He knew without doubt that Jack is a filthy pirate.

Hurray! I'll be looking forward to reading it! :D
