I'm not a Potterdurangbananarama, but I've seen all the movies and read the books, so I accompanied my sister to the midnight 3-D showing of Potters's Last Stand at Helm's Deep. The theater had sold out of 2 3-D theaters and 6 2-D theaters ... so it had ALSO scheduled the same number of showings at 3 a.m. The line of people who'd bought tickets waiting to be seated was literally 3/4 of the way wound around the outside of the multiplex. There was even a news van there, and in the lot afterwards getting reactions from some kids in costume.
Very good movie. My favorite characters - if I have them - have been Minerva and Luna, I suppose, and neither disappointed me in this movie, for the little screentime they got. But I have to say the tour de force in this goes to Alan Rickman. For seven and a half movies the poor man has had to play essentially a two-note character, but they finally let him loose in the last part of this one, and MAN. Boy, did he emote. Everything about it should make the Snarry fans ecstatic, and even the "Snape as substitute father" fans happy. (In fact, there are a LOT of 'shipper moments for various OTPs in this movie. Everybody ought to be happy with something, IMO. But I don't know the fandom too well.)

But Alan Rickman gave one hell of a performance in his death scene and all the flashbacks. Very emotional, powerful and well done. Might well be the best part of the movie. It was so intense, when Harry came out of the pensive my theatre was dead silent. Then someone sighed and cracked open a pop can, breaking the silence and creating mass hysteria during a very moving scene...I had to giggle ;)
I have to applaud Neville and Luna as well. And I'm so glad they kept the resurrection stone scene like it was in the book. It was my fave part in all the books. And I thought the epilogue played better onscreen than in the books, oddly. Overall, I loved DH Part 2 and would give it a 9.5/10 :D
