This article was really good, and it helped me to understand a couple of things. I guess that it all boils down to "our societies have a completely different approach to just about everything", though.
They are flooding the streets to demand real democracy -- the democracy of caring, of social responsibility, and of excellence, where prosperity is to be shared by those who work and those who serve.
That's what democracy is, yet most of those virtues are presented as vices. I don't think I'll ever get over "social = socialist = communist".
I hope thinks will take a turn for the better, eventually. As the author mentions, Wisconsin is an example for what could be, and I'm following the news about the goings-on there as close as possible.
