ONLY five?
1. I like to look at him; I like to write him getting it on with his best mate/archnemesis. But so help me Dog, if I ever hire anyone like Arnold Rimmer ("Red Dwarf"), I hope to hell somebody hits me with a shovel and puts me out of my misery. I have three writers who work for me who are already far, FAR too much like this character (I didn't hire them!), and there are days I should not be allowed to speak on the phone or e-mail with them because I've worn down my tooth enamel staying positive and not chewing their esophagi out. Far too quick with the ideas and "suggestions" and far too slow on the follow-through and DOING it.
2. Diane Chambers ("Cheers"). Same principle as #1, with the added bonus of her always trying to act superior to me. At least Rimmer would be easy enough to snap off that high horse. ("DOWN, boy!")
3. Jack Sparrow (POTC). Just - no. NO. If he worked for another department and I didn't have to rely on him for any part of my job, I'd be glad to work in the same building.
4. Reginald Barclay ("Star Trek TNG"). I love Reg, don't get me wrong. He's smart, he's dedicated, and most likely, he'll work until he finishes the job. But he would make me A NERVOUS WRECK the entire time. Again, if he were working for another department head in the same building, even if I had to rely on him just a little of the time, that'd be fine.
5. Mercer (POTC). He'd get the job done, but I'd have to watch for him to stab me in the back when it becomes most advantageous to him.
