fannish loves through the ages

Well, through my ages anyway.
I'm on vacation this week, so I thought I'd make good use of my time and you know, do nothing. Oh, except this. And maybe write some L/R fanfic. *G* Prepare for picspam!
I think my first fannish love was Wonder Woman - specifically, Lynda Carter. I was 5 or 6 when the show premiered and never missed an episode. I think it's part of the reason I tried for a good report card, so I could watch TV!

Lynda Carter's not looking too bad these days, either

Next came Michael Jackson in his "Thriller" phase. (Not a fandom so much as just someone I liked and drove my father crazy with posters all over my bedroom. That was to happen a lot until I moved out at 18.) I didn't really retain my love for Michael himself past the age of about 11, but I always liked his music, particularly this early stuff. Remember this video?

In 1985 this little movie came out about time travel and DeLoreans and borderline incest. Maybe you've heard of it and its obscure star?

Parkinson's has taken its toll on Michael J. Fox, but he still looks pretty good despite his illness:

Perhaps my longest-lived fannish love was Brent Spiner:

You might know him better as Data:

He's not looking too bad for a man in his 60s now, except once in a while I catch a photo where he has an expression similar to my dad's (this photo isn't it). Ergh.

Fortunately, my first fannish OTP also had one of my favorite female characters, Tasha Yar. To date, it's been my only OTP that has incorporated two of my independently favorite characters in a fandom:

If I look anywhere near like Denise Crosby when I'm 50, I wouldn't complain. *G*

In the mid-90s, in stormed Xena. YOWZA. I don't mean in a sexual sense - just YOWZA. Lady could fight and make goofy faces. I like my favorites to be dorks, for some reason. (She's not here, obviously.)

Again, I wouldn't turn down the chance to talk with Lucy Lawless for a couple of hours even now.

"Star Trek" was particularly rich for me fan-wise; it gave me three favorites, as well as perhaps the only actor who crosses two fandoms for me as favorites. There's Reg Barclay from TNG ...

And Captain Howlin' Mad Murdock from "The A-Team."

Dwight Schultz (on the right, natch) is showing his age, but he's a highly talented actor (another thing I demand from my favorites, at least IMO), and one of the reasons I'm seeing the A-Team movie this summer is I understand he has a cameo in it.

I went through a brief period of Griffin Dunne love years ago when I saw "Who's That Girl?" again (which, IMO, is one of the funniest movies ever made, with dialogue far cleverer than usually given credit). Didn't last long, but here he is anyway:

Much as I like Wolverine from "X-Men" movies - and I did think of including him - I have to pick Mystique to feature here instead just because I like her actress so much:

I always say Rebecca Romijn is my Internet Celebrity Girlfriend. I don't know that I'd go gay for her, but I'd consider it. She could probably make me laugh a lot. *G*

ANNNNNDDDDD ... here's the one nearly all of you know me for, I'm betting:

Yes. As a matter of fact, I DO think Orlando Bloom has a great deal of talent, despite being pretty (then again, I think all my favorites are pretty in some way. Don't you think that about yours? *G*) You'll see. ;-)

Here's my newest one, Chris Barrie (who I believe turns 50 next weekend, just by chance). He has less hair than he used to, and a little more bulk, but I still wouldn't turn away a few hours' conversation.

Besides, how can I turn down someone who likes airplanes, too, this much?

If you're a sci-fi geek, of course, you probably know him better elsewhere:

Arnold J. Rimmer - Smeghead himself - from "Red Dwarf." My latest fannish enjoyment. *G*
I bet we've all come through some interesting turns in our fannish loves since we got into our first one, eh? :-D
