Or at least that's how I always thought of Bea Arthur, who died today at the age of 86. I know she had many other roles - I saw several (who can forget "History of the World Part 1" or "Maude"?) - but I'll always think of her chiefly as Dorothy Zbornak of "The Golden Girls."
"Dorothy" and "Ma" (the late, great Estelle Getty) are together in the afterlife at last. I hope somebody taped some cotton in the saints' ears so they don't get offended. :-D

Date: 2009-04-26 12:28 am (UTC)I can't say I watched much of Golden Girls, but I remember how ground-breaking it was for Maude to depict the main character (female, and Bea Arthur) even considering having an abortion. (And I'm pretty sure she went through with it, on the show.)
She was no shrinking violet. Cheers (to her)!

She will be missed.
