EDIT: Sorry, sports fans - YouTube must've taken it down. You know, since "Saturday Night Live" doesn't air free on NBC in the first place, or anything ...
You know all my railing about fandom feminists that used to take up my journal - i.e., the mindset that a woman can do no wrong? I stopped to keep peace in the fandom ... I never realized I was going to see that mindset pop up in the real world SO DAMN FAST (though I did suspect with all these women around who yell that you can't criticize a woman just because she's a woman - yeah, I figured it would come up sooner or later where it matters).
See, the reason the Young Earth theory is so insidious is not just that it's utterly badwrongno science. It's the fact that EVERY KID would like to believe that people walked with dinosaurs! Hell, I'd still like to believe it. I think I even used to have a book where a brontosaurus had a human pal. It's a real shame it isn't true :)
I keep saying, the ones that already love Palin will not change, what is needed is to show the rest of the undecided and unmotivated the dangers of someone like that in power, and get them to get off their butts and vote.
Her fans love her because they envision her totally in charge. They love that she has the men around her either too much in awe of her to say much of anything, or befuddled by her looks. She's clearly the one in charge in the marriage. No matter how she messes up, she can do no wrong.
And she's female.
Did you think you'd be seeing this mindset transfer to the real world from fandom so quickly in your lifetime?
I haven't listened to that in forever. I have a lot of Saturday routines that were upset when I moved states and jobs. I need to make an effort to listen again.
the_dala's right; there's a version available on Hulu - if you don't mind the initial Splenda commercial. (I dun stealt't!)
All the fabulous humor on this topic just might get me to start paying attention to the real thing. (Though I'm pretty sure doing so won't change my vote. :P)
I missed this!
