something for everyone!
Jan. 28th, 2013 04:13 pmTwitter is a trove of links. My first one today is a serious opinion piece on how enacting abortion bans and limiting choice solidifies the financial gap between haves and have-nots, and punishes women for ... well, behaving like men are always given leave to, I suppose. I have to credit
sirriamnis for seeing this first. (Note: If you don't agree with abortion, you still may not automatically want to skip this; it's a good look at the economic reality of having an unwanted child, something that gets glossed over in favor of pulling at emotional heartstrings instead, in so many debates, including by me in the opposite direction.)
Now, as your reward for sitting through your broccoli, here's some dessert in the form of supreme male ignorance and arrogance: How to Meet Shy Girls. Someone on Twitter called it the worst article on the Internet; sadly, I contend it's really not, but it may be in the Top Ten. Here, let me whet you with some wisdom from Rico Suave:
I’m sure you have been spoonfed all this baloney about girls needing more confidence, well they don’t. They have far too much artificial confidence and that’s one reason they cannot keep a boyfriend and one reason why they are mentally unbalanced and rely on pharmaceutical anti-depressants.
It makes me feel good when a girl relies on me for protection and security. When a girl is scared and grabs your upper arm for protection it wil make you feel powerful. I do not have any proprietary instinct or care for a loud-mouth women or an overtly slutty woman. I just don’t care what happens to those types of women.
Your job is to TEST the shy girl and make sure she is true to her word. If she says “I want to wait” but then lets you ram her 12 minutes later you know she isn’t a “good girl” and you can start your search again. If she rebuffs all your charming advances you know you probably have a good girl on your hands. To test her you must touch her. Always touch, touch, touch. When she says “I want to go slow” you will say “Yes, I understand” but you will always be trying to get in. The more she resists the better she is.
Someone on Twitter pointed out the only possible way to digest this is to hear it read aloud by Will Ferrell, in character. I would add that it would make a mighty fine entry on The Onion site, too.
