Wisconsin peeps
Jun. 5th, 2012 12:53 pmI'm thinking of you guys today. (Well, the Democrat voting ones, anyway. Anyone who votes for Walker deserves what they keep getting ... but, everyone else will get it too, is the problem.)
I'm also thinking of
gryphons_lair, for whom the recall petition was an important issue, and on which she expended some of her valuable dwindling energy during the last months of her life.
This has turned into more than a simple recall election; it also seems like a mandate on organized labor, one way or the other, whether you like it or not - and it's not just for Wisconsin, but effects will be felt in other states as well. To diminish the positives of organized labor based on Big Labor's overreaching corruption of the past is to throw the baby out with the bath water. People, you do not want to go back to what working and even social conditions were like for the common person before the advent of organized labor on the heels of the Industrial Revolution; you just don't. It doesn't matter if you're not part of a union or work in a job/profession where you don't usually have unions - if you're in a society that accepts unionized labor, you too benefit from the laws and policies such groups have lobbied for in the past.
