gratitude project
Aug. 16th, 2010 01:38 amI'm due for five things for which to be grateful, aren't I? Seriously bad about keeping up daily with these. Here we go:
I'm grateful I live in a time and a place where I can say what I think without being expected to defer to a man or someone of a higher caste or class. I've often wondered how I would have fared had I been born a hundred years earlier than I was, and have concluded life would've been either miserable or a LOT of work figuring out how to support myself. Speech bless America!
I'm grateful it's summertime and the veggies are plentiful at work from co-workers' gardens. All those cucumbers and tomatoes that I will miss this winter ... I love each of you. Preferably with a little Italian dressing. :-)
I'm grateful that not everybody you disagree with online wants to fight with you about it and sometimes just walks away, even if it is with a grumbly comment. (Fanboys either don't get nearly as butthurt a lot of times as fangirls, or they don't show it - I think they're just sort of puzzled when a woman shows up liking their stuff and able to discuss/disagree in their language. Seriously, guys, we're not all Penny - some of us are bigger sci-fi geeks than you. The penis is not a fantenna. *G*)
I'm grateful I still have a job, considering there were people fired last week for the simple reason management needs to not spend as much money on labor. This is really sad because I considered my job the closest thing there is to security in my line of work, which isn't terribly secure to begin with. YIKES.
I'm grateful my car is still running. Not that this is really an imminent problem, but I'm just happy when any car I have does what it's supposed to with a minimum of cost. Really, guys.
