"Red Dwarf" fic: "Ace on the River"
Apr. 18th, 2010 01:15 pmTitle: “Ace on the River”
Rating: NC-17, M, X, etc.
Chars.: Lister/Rimmer
Spoilers: The whole damn shooting match up through Series 8
Disclaimer: If I owned these characters, do you think the show would’ve been family-friendly fare? I earn no profit for my services.
Summary: I couldn’t just leave the UST well enough alone after Smokin’ Aces and Two-Card Dud. Lister finds an Ace willing to help him find his way back to his makeshift family. (THIS IS SLASH, PEOPLE.)
A/N:
metalkatt betaed and came up with the title, since she knows more about poker than I do. In her description, “If you're running one pair or ace high, and you get an ace in that river spot, you can go from zero to hero.”
A/N2: Dead Man's Bluff is the final scene of this story, written from Rimmer's POV, in response to a meme.
Feedback: Drop it on me …
( While the pilot’s attention was on him most of the time, he noticed those hazel eyes also flicking past him often enough to pick out potential trouble, accompanied by the occasional subtle jaw-tightening and lingering gaze on what Lister figured were Suspicious Characters. )
