“Captain Turner!?” Jack’s disbelief nearly made Will reconsider.
Almost.
Jack had taught Will to divorce necessity from malice; and, it was liberating. He’d maintained sanity under the captain who’d thrown his father to the depths, cut a deal with a notorious pirate lord, drowned with a crew to assuage a friend's guilt, and laid hands on the vessel of his father’s freedom.
Jack saw nothing wrong in throwing me in the devil’s pit to sink or gamble my way out. Maybe it was time for similar self-discovery for the pirate in Sao’s brig.
After all – he could rescue Jack later.
