revisiting an older fandom
Sep. 27th, 2009 03:20 pm(I need an A-Team icon, I suppose. I guess I'll resort to Coplando, which is the closest I have to law/military other than Starfleet *snerk*)
Someone pointed out to me the other day that the A-Team movie FINALLY seems to be sludging forward. Now whether I believe this is up for debate, since I interviewed one of the Top Cow partners several years ago and he had definite plans at that time for a movie ... that never materialized. (For those who don't know, I am a "The A-Team" fan from WAY back. It was a very slashy fandom and one of my introductions into the concept of m/m fanfic.)
The casting ideas were great, I do remember - they were looking at either Harrison Ford or Mel Gibson (pre-"Passion" Mel) for Hannibal, Jim Carrey for Murdock, and Ving Rhames for B.A. (there was no Face at that time, but friends and I came up with Greg Kinnear as a likely candidate). My guess is they couldn't afford those stars or some of them turned down the roles.
I don't know if Top Cow is still involved with this movie, but I did get excited when "Wanted" did so well, since that was one of their productions. I figured it meant they might have more clout to get the A-Team movie produced. Anyway, there is an IMDB page for it, and while I don't know most of their proposed cast, their choice for Hannibal cracks up my shit - not that I don't think Liam can do a good Hannibal, just the idea of it makes me ROFLMAO for some reason.
