I hope everyone had a good mother's day, either themselves as a mother or with their own mother, or in appreciating a mother-type figure. I am grateful my mother is around this mother's day, and as I look at my f-list, I see a lot of other people who likely are, as well, given their mothers' illnesses.

I've also seen a few who've lost their mothers since the last mother's day, and my heart goes out to you all. No matter how old we get, there's nothing quite like losing a mother (or the threat of it) to make you feel suddenly alone in the world, no matter how many other relatives or friends you may have. *hugs*

Fifteen books that will always stick with me, thought of in no more than 5 minutes, eh? Well, I've been reading since I was three, and until just a few years ago, I usually had three books going at any one time ... so it's hard to narrow it down out of 34 years. But here we go, title and then author:

The Canterbury Tales – Geoffrey Chaucer
The Witching Hour – Anne Rice
Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret – Judy Blume
Lust for Life – Irving Stone
The Winner – David Baldacci (also, "Wish You Well" as an honorable mention)
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
Frankenstein – Mary Shelley
The Complete Sherlock Holmes (books and stories, yeah, it's lots, get over it) – Arthur Conan Doyle
Child of the Morning – Pauline Gedge (if you want to read one from this list, pick this one)
The Bicentennial Man – Isaac Asimov
The Last Three Minutes: Conjectures About the Ultimate Fate of the Universe – Paul Davies
Pet Sematary – Stephen King
Space – James Michener (it’s hard to just pick one of his)
On a Pale Horse – Piers Anthony (the entire 7-book series, but this and #2 are the best)
Lucky You – Carl Hiaasen (again, hard to stop at one)
