Because some people want to pick and choose what they call me out on, I have addressed this topic earlier.

There are Republicans complaining that Sarah Palin is being asked if she can do the job of VP because she has four children still at home and a grandchild on the way - "well, these questions wouldn't be asked of a man!" they say.

Funny how familiar that sounds. (Does anybody doubt for a moment that if the Dems were running a mother with young children still at home, that the Republicans wouldn't be making noises or ads about crying babies missing Mama?)

I don't really care about the knocked-up daughter (she obviously doesn't care much about herself; why should I?). Just because my father worked full-time and my mother worked full-time and also took care of our grandmother, and my sister and I still managed not to get ourselves pregnant or hooked on drugs, doesn't mean she'd be a better candidate than Palin. (Though - she totally would, for different reasons.) I'm more interested in all these things coming out that pretty much contradict everything she had to say in her introductory speech ONLY FOUR DAYS AGO - from federal earmarks to questionable political affiliations. Let's face it: Being a Communist is not as bad as wanting to be VP of a country you possibly used to champion secession from, LOL.)

Although, I must confess I am curious about this rumor and whether it's true - that the daughter was dating a much older fellow and had been since she was 14. Has there been any details about the guy? (Why does it matter? Would you trust your country to a woman who tells her 14-year-old it's OK to date a 23-year-old? As I said, though - only RUMOR so far, that could be completely false.) According to my friend who wached CBS News early this morning, the father is an 18-year-old boy. So that's a moot point. (I would just erase this part, but in the interest of fairness, since I did mention it, I want to make the record clear by leaving it up with the new information.)

I'm intrigued by the number of ultra right-wing conservatives - Brownback? Santorum? - commenting on what a great choice Palin is and how it proves the party is progressive. Um ... this woman was chosen by a handful of people as a political token. The black guy on the other side was chosen through popular vote of millions of people, as well as party delegates. Maybe the Republicans are being progressive against their own standards. But let's not confuse that with socially progressive overall. I still say there are Republican women with records and respectable reputations who would have been much better choices. It's no secret Palin was chosen because she's anti-abortion. Still, at least she's not Lieberman.

(You all are about to find out why I don't blog politics very often. I'm not particularly diplomatic about it. My feelings about the attitudes of a few pissant fans just looking for attention have nothing on worry about real life things that matter.)
