Big, grinding shift in the gears

Regardless of which major party gets into the White House come January - regardless if you think it's change, or more of the same - this really is historic. For the first time in almost 230 years, someone who is not a white male will be in the Oval Office, whether it's as the primary occupant or the Veep.
I don't know; just ponder it. I know there are other nations who think we're behind on the race part of things, anyway - and we are - but you just have to understand what a big deal this is to finally see it happen. We're taught as kids that "anyone can grow up to be President," but you always suspect in the back of your brain that "black" and "female" are in the far distant future and NOT RIGHT NOW. But it is.
