That movie I showed you, that Orlando's going to be in with Chow and Liam? Tim Roth's gonna be in it too (which may not mean anything to anyone else, but I loved the guy in "Four Rooms" and "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead").

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot, I'm not supposed to stick my nose in if I don't agree about something that talks about my gender.. I sure hope a hitman doesn't show up at an inopportune moment to leave the horse's head in my bed. And that he knocks first.

You set up a political community, you get political commentary. If you insist on seeing Meaning and Politics in everything, you get interpretations of that meaning - even if that interpretation is "it means nothing. It's a popcorn movie." (And how the hell is it NOT elitist to repeatedly mourn the thickheadedness of those who don't see all the "meaning" you do? Never have I criticized anyone for not enjoying the slash that I do.)

(Seriously - who of you has been leaving flaming and wanking comments over there? I didn't see any, but maybe I'm biased. I thought they were pretty in keeping with the tone of members' comments, which is only fair. Are any of YOU trying to silence these poor, downtrodden victims of society?)

Sure, it's all personal taste. But some of us haven't tried to force it on everybody. (And if I'm alone in thinking this ... why am I not the only one saying so?)

P.S. Oh, and by the way - if you don't agree with things I've said about them, feel free to mention me by name over there and criticize me. I've never prohibited anyone from that. (In fact, I sort of expect it more than I get it.)

P.P.S. "Intellectual elitism?" Um, no. I never said we were too stupid to understand what is going on at that comm's discussions - as I said, I can go to either Faludi or Friedman right now and let the book fall open to any random page, type in a couple of paragraphs, and find something to justify in POTC. (I really AM that good with the written word.) I said "elitist" - as in, setting yourselves up as better than the rest of us. Meaning, better people, better thinkers, better opinions - better, PERIOD. No, you fucking aren't. (However, I'm sure there ARE fans who don't understand all those terms - I don't know every single one without a dictionary - and if you really wanted to be inclusive, you'd use real words instead of Sparrabeth Code.)
