Oh, California Supreme Court ...
May. 15th, 2008 06:18 pmCan we talk? Just for a quick second or two?
It's not that I don't appreciate your ruling on the whole gay marriage thing. It's not that I don't support homosexuals having the chance to ruin their lives with marriage just as much as I can. Verily, I hope you aren't overturned by the Granddaddy of Courts in D.C.
But why, WHY does this kind of thing always happen in an election year?
We have an economy in the toilet, a stock market being kept artificially high by a small percentage of the wealthiest investors and the occasional tosser-in on a small scale, an unwinnable war overseas to continue financing, an insurance industry on the tank, prices at the pump that make me think I should be getting some Glenlivet along with the gasoline (and as a result, increasing food prices for the most basic items) ... and yet, gay marriage is going to dominate this election year just like it did in 2004.
Now you're free to disagree with this prediction ... but I'm free not to take you seriously, either.
(EDIT: Because it's going to be made into The Most Important Issue by those who vehemently oppose it and use it to wedge McCain and whatever frightening religious ultraconservative he brings along as VP into the White House. Despite a vast lack of integrity and flip-floppiness.)
