Apr. 22nd, 2008 11:34 amJoanne Harris has written a sequel to Chocolat. She was on NPR this morning talking about her new novel, and briefly touched upon the relationship between Vianne and Roux. In the sequel, Vianne has two children; one presumes her little daughter was fathered by Roux. However, he's nowhere around, having never given up his life on the river, and she has renounced magic and is in pursuit of a respectable life.
Proof that some sequels should never be written, is my guess, though I'd be interested to see if anyone's read it and has a detailed review to offer here.
