I don't know if I can come up with 10, but what the hell:

I just squashed what appears to be a junior tarantula in my living room. It is hairy and shaped like one, and had that slow tarantula-walk, and is bigger than one of my cat's toy mice.

SPIDER! SPIDER!! BIG FUCKING SPIDER IN MY HOUSE! *huddles*

I am sexist about only one thing: Men should be the spider-killers. Since no men live here, spiders should be magically barred from entering the premises. (This is what I get for being at home debating fandom stuff when I ought to be out somewhere volunteering to help the poor, I think. Even at almost midnight.) But since I've already had to kill the spider, I guess I'll toss out one last thing:

Years ago, there was a book published that had short stories about "Star Trek." Each story was written (very well, I might add) in the style of a famous author - Bret Easton Ellis, James Joyce, etc. [livejournal.com profile] metalkatt and I were talking the other day about a couple of writers we like, and wondering what things might be different in POTC - either of the movies - had one of them tackled it. The one we discussed was Peter David; since, I've also thought of Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams, though I'm not *as* extensively familiar with their styles. Janet Evanovich also come to mind as an action writer.

David, for example, is a Trek writing god. The man can throw out ten different storylines and tie them all together at the end - and then leave a couple of dangling threads for the next part. He and Evanovich are deft with humor and action, but also a breezy style of romance that I like.

What are the writers you'd like to see tackle POTC? And why that writer?

I cannot vouch for the truthfulness or integrity of the following, but my sister sent me a link to an IMDB thread discussing the writers' commentary on the DMC DVD (apparently it's been released overseas from the U.S. already someplace? I don't know where). Maybe someone else here could vouch for it:

I'm not sure a "spoiler" label is appropriate, unless you consider what the writers have to say about a movie that's already been released as spoilers ... but just in case - SPOILERS!!! There's a lot of comments concerning Jack and Elizabeth and their actions in this discussion thread.
