*major eyeroll*
Oct. 13th, 2006 05:23 pmApologies, but I don't have to agree with every other fan's opinion - I believe it's enough that I make it clear what I write in a discussion community is ONLY my own thoughts and that I make it clear those thoughts are on the movies or fandom in general and NOT directed at the poster or their parentage. I paid my $$$ for the movies like anyone else, I guess I can have my own take on things.
If I don't want people dissecting what I think, I'll keep it here ... and hell, even HERE people are free to call me out. It's not like it's never happened. I learned long ago a lot of people would disagree with anything I thought, and as long as they didn't call me names, it was OK - and I've had a lot of people I've disagreed violently with, who've maintained good humor throughout, whom I now respect for putting up with me being a bitch from time to time.
Tucking your tail and pouting off in the corner because someone questions something you post in a fandom LJ community is a bit dramatic. I've seen people, in person, get less upset with me in a discussion about real-world politics and the Iraqi war, for Chrissake - things that MATTER.
For the record, yeah, I opened my big mouth (fingers?) on movie stuff again. But I made it clear my derision was directed at the screen, not at the person I was questioning - in fact, I went out of my way twice to make it clear I thought the poster's essay was good and that there was just one small part of it that sparked my commentary. I guess I'm going to have to make like
pir8fancier and go into a self-imposed exile because I'm incapable of fawning over poor characterization out of professional writers I'm conditioned to expect so much BETTER from.
