So, I spent yesterday visiting a friend who lives about 100 miles away, newly-married and all. Actually, I spent the day with her and HER new friends, a bunch of women who love to get together and do things and travel and drink - which is what we did yesterday, since it was too damn hot outside to do anything productive.

Nine of us spent five hours straight DRINKING in one of the women's living room, this concoction of champagne, Grand Mariner, and peach Schnapps. We went through a case of Cook's and I don't even know how much of the rest ... I lost track of how much I drank. I kept getting my wine glass refilled. I have not been that singularly intoxicated since I was probably about 25 or so (which has been several years), though I can still say I have never been so drunk that I couldn't walk or know what I was saying, or that I threw up as a result of it.

At one point, we got to talking about funerals and dead people and their faults, and the heat. It was like a deleted scene from "Elizabethtown." But if I ever go to one of these parties again, I will NOT drink that much. OY.
