Except for several boxes in the back bedroom which I'd really like to unpack and put on bookshelves (that I don't yet have and cannot yet afford) and some posters that aren't on walls, the apartment is pretty much put together now.

The cat has gotten used to going outside, but he never likes to stay out as long as he did at the old place. My guess is it's just been too chilly and new for him. Although, I did catch him tonight having somehow gotten up on the neighbor's second-story balcony - he was circling the perimeter meowing to be let down (as though I put him up there!). I shook a can of treat at him and waited a couple of minutes for him to get the courage to jump onto the grass eight feet down. I told him if he was going to start climbing shit at his age (10), he needs to learn to get back down on his own. (We'll see if he's up on the balcony *again* at any point.)

The old lady who lived here before me told me she planted flowers in the little garden behind the apartment (for those who knew the old place, there's about twice as much space next to this apartment as behind the old one, that belongs to me; half is patio and half is flowerbed). I don't plan to touch it, for I have the Thumb of Black, though there's a hose-roller and my own water spigot, so I might buy a short hose and water them on dry evenings. But that's it; they've gotta survive on their own.

The job is pretty good at this point. I've been there two weeks, frustrated (as is my boss) in dealing with computer problems. I actually have too many NEW programs that aren't compatible with anyone else's - note that this has never been a problem anyplace else I've worked - which is sort of important if you're in desktop publishing. The IT guy's going to yank out Vista and change 2007 Word back to an older version this weekend; hopefully by Monday it'll be working again. (Tip: Don't let the bastards install Vista when you buy a computer!! Nothing is compatible with it!)

A few people wondered what my deal was last night - the one with flowers and kittens and puppydogs calling for some peace in fandom. Well, kids, that's what Aunt Ronnie occasionally does when she's pissed off. I originally wanted to write "fuck you all" (as most of us fans occasionally wish to do) after making the rare mistake of reading certain communities' comments regarding the disposal of inconvenient (yet necessary) plot points ... but realized halfway through that I sounded like a dumbass. That, and there *are* a few comm members who aren't like that, and it got me to thinking that if they can make a stretch to disagree with their fellows, there is hope for some of our brains not spontaneously exploding. So no worries, I'm not really changing my opinion on any issues I have with anything post-DMC, I'm just trying to be more zen about it. I doubt I'll attain [livejournal.com profile] the_dala's philosophy of loving everyone equally in the same sandbox *G*, but that's okay.

And, it's okay if none of you do. I don't expect it. I wasn't trying to preach - I was just vocalizing what I thought the biggest problem might be, and trying to be rational about it. After all, I wouldn't have *come* to the conclusions I have if I hadn't thought about the opposite opinions more than is strictly healthy for anything not netting me a paycheck, LOL.
